A hotel on the east coast of Taiwan has collapsed after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake struck late Tuesday evening, February 6, with other buildings toppled or damaged, the national fire agency said.
Images on local television showed the Marshal Hotel in Hualien slanted on its side, partially crumpled into the ground.
The quake hit at 23:50 pm (1550 GMT) around 21 kilometres (13 miles) northeast of Hualien, according to the United States Geological Survey.
