OFFICIAL SCHOOL STATEMENT FROM ACT PRESIDENT DR. STEPHEN DESCALLAR:
The ACT administration and studentry are so shocked about the unfortunate incident that claimed the life of our student Jonah Mae Villarin who committed suicide by jumping out of the window of the women's CR cubicle in the 7th floor of ACT building.
Before the incident Jonah Mae displayed erratic behavior while attending her class and even tried to climb out of the classroom's window. She was restrained by the teacher who then called for the guidance counselor Mr. Marcus Agonia Jr. who later fetched Jonah Mae and brought her to the counselling office.
The guidance office contacted the mother of Jonah Mae immediately while Mr. Agonia asked Jonah some questions. From their conversation, Jonah admitted that she has been physically, verbally and psychologically abused by her parents at home but did not elaborate when asked why. She just said, "gikapoy na ko sa akong kinabuhi kay puros lang pain."
When her mother arrived at the guidance center, Mr. Agonia left Jonah in the counseling office for a while to talk with her mother. He recommended to the mother to have her daughter examined by a clinical psychologist due to her earlier suicide attempts such as ingesting a dozen packs of vetsin, and a dozen of amoxicillin and biogesic as confessed by Jonah earlier.
When Jonah sensed that her mother was around, she asked to go to the CR. Escorted by a guidance counselor to the women CR, Jonah quickly went inside the cubicle and locked herself up. And things quickly happened in seconds as she slipped out of the cubicle's window.
The school immediately contacted a hospital ambulance and the police while the school's medical staff and officials went down to the ground floor. The ambulance emergency staff performed CPR on Jonah while her parents who were present decided to have their daughter brought to the nearest hospital.
