100 Hectare Reclamation Project in Minglanilla, Cebu Approved by CPRA

100 hectare reclamation project in the town of Minglanilla was approved by Cebu Provincial Reclamation Authority (CPRA). Governor Hilario Davide attended the meeting and he said that the proposed project will be presented to Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA).

Jose Soberano III, chairman Cebu Landmasters Inc., said the deal follows the format of Cordova-SM Prime Holdings Inc. joint venture agreement, which was also approved by the CPRA last June.

He said that 49 percent of the saleable land will be owned by the private developer Ming-Mori Development Corporation, a subsidiary of Cebu Landmasters.

The 51 percent of the reclaimed land will be shared by PRA, Minglanilla, and the Province of Cebu.

The reclamation will pave the way for the construction of industrial park, which will spur the development in the south, said Jose Franco Soberano, director of Cebu Landmasters.

He said, “The Minglanilla-Ming-mori Reclamation and Industrial Park Development (MMRIPD) Project is estimated to cost billions of pesos.”

The amount will be funded by the private developer with zero cost from Minglanilla.

MMRIPD Project will have a total of 51.84-hectare industrial zone. It will also have commercial, institutional and utilities, residential/mix use zones. The road networks will have side walk and bike lanes.

To decongest the traffic in Minglanilla, the municipal government is proposing to open the road right of way of the old Philippine National Railway.

Mayor Elanito Peña said the old railway has 30 meters width. It slices through the public market area in the lower portion of Minglanilla and connects to the Cebu City South Road Properties.

In February, the Provincial Development Council endorsed the revival of the old railway system to the Regional Development Council 7.
